Since opening in February 2022, Tiptoes Nursery is already proving to be a great asset to the community. It now employs eight members of staff in full-time positions and currently has 30 children under- 5 enrolled and attending the nursery weekly. The nursery will continue to gradually welcome more families in the coming months.
In partnership with the West Lothian Council, Tiptoes Nursery has been awarded funding for children aged 3-5. As a result, families will be able to receive 1140 hours of free childcare per year, equating to 2 full days per week. This is a significant achievement for the private nursery and will hugely benefit young families in the surrounding area.
Tiptoes has also started to extend its reach in the local area and has acquired a planter near Auldcathie Park, which will be tended by the children of the nursery as they learn to dig, plant, tidy, water and grow various plants.
The nursery also has plans to develop its large outdoor back garden, soon to be filled with equipment for the children chosen by the families, as well as recycled materials such as pipes and pallets from I&H Brown, through Winchburgh Developments.
The owner, Sheetal Shah, told us: “It has been great to welcome so many families into our nursery and we look forward to welcoming many more.
“We thank West Lothian Council for supporting the nursery and the commitment from our growing community and Winchburgh Developments as we continue to enrol more pupils. “Our learning facilities at Tiptoes provide familiarity and stability, as well as opportunities for outdoor exploration for pupils to learn, grow and play across those important early years, all in the heart of Winchburgh.”
John Hamilton, CEO of WDL, commented: “It is fantastic to see the effect the opening of Tiptoes has had on families living and moving to the area. It is also great to see the children become confident learners, who are curious about their world, and we look forward to seeing what blossoms in their planter this year.”
